Spring Cycling Classes
Don't just stare out the window wishing the weather was better for cycling!
Prepare for warm weather with our Spring Cycling classes. Classes will be led by Dave Jones, our Cycling Education Director, and other cycling instructors with the FCC. Classes are free and open to the public though we will ask participants to register for so we can prepare for numbers.

Put these classes on your calendar and plan today to attend.

Basic Bicycle Maintenance
We will start our spring spruce-up series on Saturday, March 17th at the Spotsylvania YMCA on Smith Station Road with a class on basic cycling maintenance.

We will discuss tune-ups,  derailleur adjustments and take up pedal overhauls, steering head replacement and/or lube, bottom brackets, wheel bearings, chain ring replacement, cog set replacement and wheel truing.

We ask that each class participant bring a maintenance stand and some basic tools.  If you want to participate but don't have access to a stand, contact Stan Huie.  We will do our best to provide some extras for those who don't have one.

Check the calendar.  We are looking to do a St. Patties Day Ride that morning prior to the class if the weather is tolerable.

Essentials of Bicycle Touring
On April 29th at the Salem Church Road branch of the Fredericksburg Library, we will provide a class on the essentials of bicycle touring. Never been on a tour, no problem! The class will prepare for a short "get your feet wet" tour ride where we will do a weekend out-and-back tour ride from Fredericksburg to practice the tour essentials we'll learn in the classroom.

We will cover types of touring, bike frame considerations, tires, safety and visibility, what to pack and how to pack it, clothing considerations, travel tips and tricks and more.
