Prince William Forrest Park Ride
When
15 Mar 2015
1:00 PM
Location
Prince William Forrest Park
Meet in parking lot D.
I will be leading a no-drop ride for novice and beginning level road cyclists.
The route will be on the PW Forrest Park's Scenic Drive, which has one lane blocked off to motorists. The ride will be six miles round trip, and could be repeated to increase miles. This is a peaceful, gentle road to build skills and confidence for new cyclists.
More experienced cyclists can join us that day to do personal time trials on the 7-mile Scenic Loop. (see map)
http://www.nps.gov/prwi/planyourvisit/maps.html
The park entrance fee is $5 for one day or $20 per year; well worth the year pass investment. This is an awesome National Forrest Park in our own back yard. It has some roads for mountain biking and amazing hiking trails, too. (You usually have to pay the fee at the Visitor Center, so give yourself a little extra time for that.)
From Fredericksburg and points south:
Take I-95 north to exit 150 (VA Route 619/Joplin Road). Turn left at the bottom of the exit ramp and continue on VA Route 619 West approximately 1/4 mile to the park entrance.
Please encourage anyone you know who wants to start cycling to come on out; also encourage anyone who wants to just go fast in a beautiful setting to come out, too! Hope to see you there!
There will be a FCC Social Meet-Up at 5:00 p.m. after the ride at Mick's Restaurant and Sports Lounge 2866 Jefferson Davis Highway Stafford, VA 22554
