Hopewell Church Ride
Location: 12018 Guinea Dr, Woodford, VA 22580
Come out and ride with us from Hopewell Methodist Church in Woodford, Va. Situated in a rural area just over the Spotsylvania County line, Hopewell allows us to branch out in multiple directions on safe, scenic, country roads. April through November, we break into multiple groups based on rider speed and distances. Slower groups generally go 20 to 36 miles at a 14-15mph pace, while faster riders opt for longer distances of at least 40 miles at a 16-18 mph pace.
During the normal riding season, Saturday rides feature the official No-Drop ride; however, all groups keep an eye out for newer riders and try to wait at intersections for anyone who is close behind. Look forward to riding with you!
We are no longer using or maintaining the former "marked" routes from Hopewell. We have certain canned routes that the ride leaders may choose or the group can determine where they want to ride. We will put the RWGPS files on the Hopewell calendar soon. "Standard" i.e. frequently used routes include:
1. The 28-mile to Nancy Wright's with a return via Sunshine School and Bethel Church. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/48803731
2. The 33-mile to Quarters road with a return via Sunshine School and Bethel Church. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/48803773
3. The 36 mile route to Bowling Green https://ridewithgps.com/routes/48803897
4. The 42-mile route to Chilesburg via Bull Church, Cedar Fork and Jericho roads. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/48803843

The route is well marked and several of the legs are in neighborhoods or back roads and very safe. Riders of all abilities are welcome, but the average pace for this ride is 16 - 20 mph.
